Reader Reviews
To be sure, this item is ONLY the beaten biscuits, and one must furnish the ham separately. So, in that respect, the item description needs revision. The biscuits, however, are CLASSIC. Beaten biscuits are NOT your mama's lovely flaky biscuits! They are a real throwback to days when flour was precious, leavening agents (other than whaling the dough with an ax handle) were not available, and bread sometimes had to last for months. They are hard, heavy, and altogether DELICIOUS, though they are also likely an acquired taste. Nowadays they should be heated BRIEFLY in a microwave. I particularly like them with butter and honey, but some thinly-sliced Virginia ham with a little sharp mustard is hard to beat too! BEFORE you buy these, read up on what Beaten Biscuits are. A previous reviewer clearly did not.
