Grits (2 lb bag)
If you love grits, these are the best way to make them from scratch. If you've never tried grits, these are a perfect introduction. This mix from our cousins at Lakeside Mills in Spindale, NC is made from the whole corn kernel for a full flavor. You'll be on your way to a proper Southern breakfast in no time with this recipe: boil 4 cups of water with 1 teaspoon salt. Pour 1 cup of grits into rapidly boiling water. Cook and stir until boiling. Cover, reduce heat to low, and continue cooking for 5 to 6 minutes, stirring occasionally. If you really want a gourmet experience, throw a little cheddar cheese on top just before you eat them.

Personally, I don't see how anyone can live without grits. Always cook them slower and longer than the directions. Add cheese, salt, pepper, tomatoes, or salsa and on payday you can afford to put a heap a helping of fresh boiled shrimp on top. Damn, I'm getting hungry thinking about King's grits. Gotta go order some.
