This review is one of the few I've written without acting sampling said product personally -- that would involve me wrangling a bar away from my 2 or 4 1/2 year old long enough for a bite. These bars are almost a win-win for our family - the kids adore the "Grover Bars" (similar to the "Big Bird Bars"Earth's Best Sunny Days Snack Bars, Apple, 5.3-Ounce Units (Pack of 6)) and I've actually found a portable, healthy snack. Go ahead, look at every other packaged breakfast- or cereal-type bar in the grocery store. Every one of 'em has high fructose corn syrup. Apparently, manufacturers think you have to sweeten the heck out of anything to sell to kids.
(That said, I am NOT a health food nazi. I just would like to establish some healthy habits in my kids, and somehow steamed broccoli is not the best kids snack for the car.) So, I rate these 5 stars, and say "almost" a win-win. They're still quite pricey per bar, but the Amazon price is excellent. Also, the serving size is pretty small - but I do not consider that to be a negative.
I would like to try the other flavors of the Earth's Best bars, but they do not seem to have the Sesame Street characters, and that is a big point with my 2 year old. Not only are the furry characters on the front of each box, but each individually wrapped bar features a picture of Grover, too.
