Watch out! this is not called Needle tea for nothing! Black Needle Yunnan tea leaves feel like sharp little swords when dry. This is a great starter tea for tea novices because the flavor is not harsh. Unlike other Yunnan teas, the taste is very light and forgiving. Brewing time is long; a usual steep should be 1.5 to 2.5 minutes with water at 160 F. Leaves can be reused once or twice; but, as with most green teas, most of the flavor is extracted in two steeps. Kids love to see the leaves change color, and the kid in you will also enjoy it as well!
