This is my second flavor of Bromley's teas, and I am just as impressed with this fine blended Darjeeling as I was with the Tuscan Herbal Lemon. I adore plain black tea and Darjeeling is certainly very famous, and boy am I glad I don't have to travel to Nepal to savor a cup. Darjeeling tea is often called the "champagne" of teas. It is usually considered a lighter afternoon tea, but it depends on the time of year the leaves are harvested as different flushes produce specific tastes. The tale of Darjeeling Tea started about 150 years ago when Dr. Campbell, a civil surgeon, planted the actual tea seeds in his garden at Beechwood, Darjeeling, 7000 ft above sea level as an experiment. The rest is history as this tea gained popularity and continued to be so well known as to what he drink today. This tea is certainly bright and bold, when I drink it with lemon and sugar I like it at medium strength, but I let it soak in if Im adding some milk. It is absolutely magnificent with milk, creating a creamy and almost coffee like brew, that is still fresh and let's me sleep at night. This tea is part of a collection called Bromley's Exotic Teas from Around the World. It is one of many exotic black teas, but I must admit their flavored and herbal ones are just as luscious and certainly come at a great price. I feel funny drinking tea that costs more than half the things I own, so a good price is crucial because I drink a lot of tea and am constantly repurchasing more. This tea is so good that I get constant requests from coworkers to pick them up a few boxes, as I get them from a store close to my house. I can't recommend enough checking out the website from the box for product information, brewing tips, which I can never get enough of and recipes for cooking with tea! They share how to make them using Bromley's teas such as an Apricot Green Tea Cake, Cashmere Soup, Coconut Green Tea Crust for fish, Green and Black Tiramisu, Spreads and dips, sauces, casseroles, Green Tea Ice Cream and Mango Sorbet, and pretty much other dishes that require a few ingredients but look sublime. I have even made tea jell-o once and loved it as well.
