2001 Haiwan Ripe Beeng Tea Leaves - Vintage Pu-erh Teas - 350 Grams
Introducing fine Pu-erh teas from the Haiwan factory! The Haiwan facility was started by M.R. Zhou Bing Liang, known for his superb management of the renown Menghai factory in China. The Haiwan Ripe Beeng tea cakes are cooked and ready to drink. Complete with inner and outer labels, production #108, these are the eighth line of teas from the 2001 season. These premier teas from the Liang Haiwan factory are sure to become prized collector items. The leaves are still intact and of a significant size, both signs of a superior Pu-erh. The teas taste great now, and are sure to improve with age. Cakes are 350 grams, and yield 75 servings or more!
Pu-erh teas are aged before they are consumed, unlike other teas which are meant to be consumed shortly after production. Pu-erh teas are at least 1-4 years old, but can also be aged for more than 50 years! Over this time, Pu-erh teas ferment, which leads to their earthy flavor, as opposed to the flavor of oolong or black teas, which comes from oxidation. Pu-erh teas are unique among tea varieties because they do not lose qualities after a year or two, but rather gain in value, and are classified by connoisseurs by year of production.
