Arrowhead Mills Brown Rice Flour, 2 Pound Bags (Pack of 4)
This product is very gritty. It gives a crunch to anything you cook it with. I have tried it in bananna bread, cookies, and brownies. The cookies and brownies turned out awful because of the grittiness of the flour; it made the cookies taste like they had bad tasting little seeds in them. It took me a while to figure out what was wrong with them, but I soon narrowed it down to the brown rice flour. The bananna bread turned out alright, but not the best. Aside from the texture issue, brown rice is even stronger in flavor than whole wheat flour; this problem is easily fixed by mixing half of the brown rice flour with white rice flour to make it more nutritious than plain white rice; but not preventing it from tasting good. If there is a way to make this flour finer than I would give it 5 stars, because Amazon shipped it safely, the bags were still closed and intact, and the product's quality is fresh and good in that sense.

We are already used to the different texture of gluten-free products, so I'll say that as far as flavor and texture goes we love this flour. I've used it in everything, every type of cooking. I recommend adding xantham gum for cookies, brownies, etc. Helps it to be less crumbly. Compared to other brown-rice flours this one beats them all. Because it is made from brown rice, a whole grain, it is a little more grainy and crumbly, so I recommend adding in another high-nutrition flour like amaranth or quinoa flour, but not necessary of you don't mind the texture of whole grains.
