My 4 year old son (who pretty much loves everything from shrimp to avocado) ate one piece and gave the other 3 back. I ate one and then another, trying to make sense of the first taste. My husband came in later and pronounced, "I don't like that cereal." I checked to see if the box was stale, but the date is supposed to be good for 6 more months. In a curious twist, the weird aftertaste started early -- call it a during- and after- taste, and maybe even before-taste, if you breathe in deeply before tucking in. Maybe it would be better with milk? But we eat our cereal dry and are going to throw the box out, I'm sorry to say. I should say that we have no gluten restrictions; we just like variety. So we have no real incentive to love the cereal. <br /> <br />As for the taste itself, it doesn't taste like rice or honey, both of which we eat copiously. It's more of saccharin or other food additive flavor, which is odd, since I'm sure they aren't in the product. Too bad, because the puffins do have a great, satisfying crunch. And the box is cute.

This cereal has good texture, but that's about all I can say on its behalf. It just has a really strange, artificial sort of flavor. I'm trying to finish it because I hate throwing away food, but it's a struggle.
